Dodge Charger Original Ads
Officially introduced by Dodge in 1966, the Charger is a classic. Dodge met their muscle car competitors head-on by improving the interior of their cars. Not only did the Dodge Charger have two bucket seats in the front, but it also had two in the back! Dodge debuted the street 426 Hemi the same year. As a $1000 upgrade cost to the $3,122 car, only 468 of the 37,344 Chargers produced in 1966 had the Hemi Ð making the ones that did extra rare and desirable.
Dodge Charger ads began running in 1966 and featured the Charger as the biggest, baddest, and fastest car with the new street hemi. Dodge Charger posters and ads that followed the next few years maintained the image of the Dodge Charger as not only fast and attractive, but powerful and masculine too. The new Coke bottle design of the Dodge Charger for 1968 backed up these claims and Dodge was quick to showcase its newly restyled Charger with all manner of Dodge Charger pictures and Dodge Charger ads.
Remember the Scat Pack? Dodge promoted the 1970 Scat Pack heavily and Classic Auto Images now has several hard-to-find reproductions of the original ads, pictures and posters for the Dodge Scat Pack featuring the Dodge Charger, Dodge Super Bee, Dodge Challenger and the Dodge Dart Swinger.
